It's Okay to Not Be Okay

A picture of mountains against a blue sky under words that read "It's Okay to Not Be Okay".

A reminder from your local Employee Assistance Program (EAP):

When we learn about events in our world, there can be pressure to be unimpacted and carry on with work, family, and relationships at the same pace as before. That pressure can actually make us feel more isolated and judgmental of our natural responses. Please know that it is normal to have reactions to stressors outside of yourself and to macro-level events. It is okay and even helpful to acknowledge that we are impacted and “not okay.”

Take a big breath. Know that you are a normal human having reactions to stressful and not normal experiences. Be gentle with yourself.

And if you want a space of support for these challenges, the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is here to provide free, confidential counseling with a licensed mental health professional. You can make an appointment by calling (512) 471-3366 or emailing eap@austin.utexas.edu.
