Grief can manifest in a variety of ways and can be particular to individuals. There is not one right way to grieve whether it is the loss or anticipated loss of a loved one, a pet, a relationship, a dream, or a job. Whether validated or minimized, grief will present in a variety of ways, emotionally, physically, and socially. Understanding the complexities of grief can help you understand your own reactions and/or help you support others. This group will delve deeper into discussing the stages of grief, different types of grief, external influences, and self-care practices. There will be psychoeducational material presented followed by open discussions, and experiential exercises/projects.
This 5-week virtual group will be facilitated by Laura Gomez-Horton, LCSW-S via Zoom on Thursdays, 12:00-1:00 p.m. starting April 2, 2026. Group is limited to 12 participants. Before joining, you’ll need to complete a pre-group interview with the facilitator. To schedule your interview, please email eap@austin.utexas.edu.
